The Production Manager / Production Superintendent in South Carolina will be responsible for the safety, quality, and operational metrics of the raw board production line to achieve maximum profitability. This individual will drive the mill’s performance, reduce variation, decrease waste, increase speed, and champion the culture of continuous improvement.

Education Required: Degree in Wood Science, Engineering, or Manufacturing preferred
Years Experience Required:  A minimum of 3 years in an Operations Manager / Production Manager, or similar position required.  Must have experience in wood products. Prefer Pulp & Paper, OSB, MDF or Particleboard experience.

  • Ensuring the facility is operating in a safe environment and all employees are engaged and active participants in a safety-first culture.
  • Warrant that all environmental requirements are followed, and all employees are engaged in reducing waste
  • Reducing variation around key process parameters
  • Achieving budgeted cost of goods manufactured for raw production monthly
  • Driving uptime improvement with Maintenance Manager.
  • Co-managing product trials
  • Coaching lead operators through team development within the team design
  • Working closely with the Financial Manager to ensure product costing by production line is accurate and in line with costing models so that accurate data is accessible for potential sales strategy changes.
  • Ensure the Production Schedules are executed properly with maximum efficiency and the lowest cost possible.
  • Focus on Vision of Continuous improvement in all parts of the business: People, Costs, Production, Safety, Environment, Quality, Image, and Customer Satisfaction.
  • Work close with Regional Sales Team in product development, scheduled volume versus operating posture (including mix by production line) and customer issue/complaint resolution. 
Preference will be given to candidates with the following experience:
  • Must have experience in wood products. Prefer Pulp & Paper, OSB, MDF or Particleboard experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years in an Operations Manager / Production Manager, or similar position required.  Preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and computer application experience. Data manipulation and interpretation is critical.
  • Degree in Wood Science, Engineering, or Manufacturing preferred
  • SPC knowledge or data analysis experience
  • SAP CMMS experience preferred (or any other ERP or CMMS, like Maximo)
